Stone House family session // final

img_5790Okay guys here's the thing. I have had these images for just over a year now, and I'm just now getting around to sharing them. Surprisingly, the reason can't be blamed by becoming a family of three, but instead because I knew putting this post together and writing the words for it would be an emotional one so I've been putting it off. Those friends of ours, the ones that lived in that beautiful stone house out in the country? They moved. They moved out of state and man do we miss them. Most of our closest friends live hundreds, if not thousands of miles away from us at this point in our lives, and thankfully I think we do a pretty good job of keeping in touch with them all, but it's not the same as being able to spontaneously hang out just to watch a few shows, go for a walk, drink a cup of tea, or share a meal together. I'm always grateful for families to let me into their lives with my camera, and I'm especially glad that this crew allowed me to photograph them in all sorts of places and spaces over the years. This certainly isn't the last time the Makoutz family will appear in front of my camera, but capturing their home before everything was packed up to move across the country was something I felt I needed to do for them. I've been fortunate enough to do sessions like this for a handful of families over the years and thinking about trying to capture a home full of memories always feels monumental to me. To photograph a place where both everyday moments and huge life changes happened, well it feels really special.img_5528img_5535img_5538img_5540img_5541
